I've run into this problem a few times... it's always been a problem on
the ISP end of things if I get the error more than once. See what kind
of information you can get dialing in with minicom.
Once the problem was in the way my ISP had attempted to set up my static
IP (apparently incorrectly)
Hi all;
Anyone know a good ppp-program? I use kppp now which I have to run in a su

Also, does anyone know a good webbrowser? Preferrably good css support.
I love Opera for Windows and am longing for it to be ported to X. I'm currently
using netscape, kfm and lynx.

The best way to do this is by dialing in manually with kermit or
minicom, and determining first h
This is from the HOWTO (which is a bit old -sigh-):

When your chat script completes, pppd starts on your PC. However, if
you have not completed the log in process to the server (including

It's often a problem with the ISP, I don't remember what the exact cause
is. So it's not your problem, unless you've also changed something
in the ppp
Hi,
My ppp log shows that all 7 bits set to zero not 8 bit clean, is there any way to
resolve this?

Hi,
Does anyone know of a nice cad program for linux?
I'm looking for something to create floorplans in.
Any specific recommendations?

Hey Rebecca,
You can always check what you installed via the install.log
usually located in /tmp. If its not there and you have installed RPM you
can figure it out by the command rpm -q --all | less. This will query the
rpm database for all installed packages. Another way is typing which

You didn't way whose install directions want gcc. If the system is up enough
to run rpm (and it should be if you can do 'which foo'), check to see if it's
in
And another nice thing about redhat upgrade install, or expert install is that when
looking at the packages, you can press f1 (i think it is f1) and get a brief
description of the package and what it is suppose to do.

You can reboot to do what looks like the installation again (follow the
same path you did to install in the first place), and choose "upgrade"
instead of install. This will let you add any packages you didn't add
the first time (you might use expert mode for this to see exactly what's
going on). :
I just installed RedHat 6.0, didn't examine what it was installing too
closely just accepted defaults. Is it possible there was no compiler
installed? (which cc, which gcc both say no gcc in ).
If so, how can I install it (or do I need to reinstall RedHat?).
Install directions seem to want to

The only benefit, I see with this device, is entertainment. There is nothing
else to it. If it is entertainment only, then it is better off with
Microsoft platform.
