For what it's worth, I think plain text often looks better than HTML. And
"ascii-art" can make presentation of non simple data (tables, diagrams,
etc.) easy. Certainly easier than including huge graphic files in a HTML

You could also include the FAQ in the registration email sent to people as
they join the list ? And maybe just post a quick pointer to it's locations
on the list every time it is updated.
