Personally, I don't think you have anything to apologise for. After all, you
are using the list for the purpose it was established - for blind cell phone
users to ask questions and receive help. There are some people on this list
that are very knowledgeable and some like you and me, who as

If you mean the "^" being over the 6 on the QWERTY keyboard, it has no
relevance in English that I am aware of. It is an accent mark used in French
over an "E" followed by a "T" as being the most common use.
It is called a carrot symbol, at least that is what I know it as.
