Since two weeks have passed from the latest modification to the RFC and no

Dear all!
I have now updated the "Railway tracks on highway" proposal page based on
discussion and critical comments expressed here.
The updated proposal states that the tag-value should always follow that of the
railway-tag it shadows. For reasons expressed earlier here, I decided to omit

Hello all!
And sorry for the delay in my comments, I've been very busy with other work the
past week.
Firstly, I was rethinking about the introduction a general "=yes"-value for
this tag. It might be that some lazy mappers would prefer this kind of general
tag, but on the other hand the "embed

And thank you all for the good points. Indeed Markus' suggestion of a general

the proposal to reflect this.
The reason I added the =subway tag was that I realized that in Helsinki the

Dear all!
Sorry for the earlier outburst (especially to Paul) and sorry for my quite
thoughtless follow-up proposal!
I do realize the importance of following the proper protocol, especially in a
project the size of OSM.
I'll try to get the new proposal ready hopefully this week.

Hello Paul, and thank you for your input!
You are indeed correct that my follow-up proposal would very radically cut
corners and be, to say the least, unorthodox. I'm certainly sorry if it
offended the sensibilities of anyone.
I can see now that it could be construed as malicious and you are ce

It is true that that would be more precise, but are there in fact any examples

Hi Martin
That's a good point about the lanes, which I hadn't thought about previously.
In Helsinki, the tram lines either run only on one-laned highways or on a
separate patch between multi-laned highways. But that only explain why I hadn't
thought about it earlier.
Would the semantics still
Dear all!
Thank you for the discussion and excellent critical points. I changed the
proposal according to the feedback, and since it has been quiet from then on, I
advanced the proposal to Voting (I hope this is OK. Again it's my first
proposal even though I am a long-time mapper).

Dear all!
Thank you for the insightful critical comments for the tag proposal.
I have now changed the tag value from a bicycle=* acces key to a railway= -key.
I have also changed and updated the Rationale, Tagging and Applies to -fields

Hello again
Thank you for the very good critical comments! It is obvious that my original
proposal of a bicycle= -tag for this purpose is a bad idea, but it should be
introduced as a more general tag.
How should I proceed? Is is best to change the current proposal status to

Hi all!
Thank you for all for good points and special thanks to Mateusz for the
pictures and further proposals! Sorry for the delay in my replies.
As Mateusz mentioned it might be better to use a more general tag for
tramtracks on a highway than just an access-key for bicyclists.
