Does that mean you will take the job? :)
BTW we will keep the splash screen until we feel we no longer need it. I see
no real reason not to. The size of the binary will not be affected that

Trevor's right, programs should simply load in less time than it takes to
cue the user that they're loading. In general, there are ways of making a
lot of initialization info cached on disk anyway, and most other
initialization could happen in the background _after_ the interface is
brought u

You've missed the point. The end-user should not have to be told that the

That reminds me, we should be careful that the splash screen doesn't add
too much size to the bin

Well, that's why programs normally have the possibility to turn off the

I've been watching the thread on these splash screens for a while now. The
mention of linux above has caught my attention :-) in
come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We
don't believe this to be a coincidence."

The problem is, The SWORD Project for Windows isn't The SWORD Project. The
SWORD Project and The SWORD Project for Windows are two different things.
Although, they are very connected.

The smaller fonts are to small to notice much about them, other than they
are there. Any language that small and crammed on to the page just looks
like a newspaper in the background. The larger Greek font with that texture
in #14 gives it a look of an old script carved in stone. It grabs my

Hi yall!
I know I dont put much into this, but is there or are you able to make a
splash screen for linux, and if so, why not exclude the "for windows" part
all together, and use it for both OS's... Also, I am just one of those
weirdos who thinks, "Well look at that! Its the Sword Project for Win
I made another new style (#20) that is the smaller font, but with more
interesting texture. Was the interesting part of the larger fonts the size or
texture?

I like #14. It fits the left/center/right scheme Troy wanted and the
background is light, and I like the larger Greek background font (more
interesting than the smaller font versions, which are hard to notice what
they are).

the "for windows" thing too close to the dark border... okay, if I have to vote, maybe
#18... ;o)

Hi everyone,
I've updated the Splash Screen page with some various new Splash Screens,
taking in the suggestions I received from the last batch. If you would like
to see them, go to http://www.uninetsolutions.com/tbutler/misc/sword.html .
