DM, if you really intend below to say 'reiterates', and if I remember
correctly, the intended OSIS tagging would be to use (which
I'm not sure if SWORD supports yet) instead of , but from your
example, I don't think "Lit." usually reiterates, but rather redefines.

This is indeed a build-system bug and not a source code problem. If our
autotools files were fixed, the source should build fine without
clucene. I hadn't been aware that we still had a problem. I think
glasseyes commited a patch recently. Looking The last log entry in
svn on configure.
Chris and DM can likely guess my opinion on this, but I'll quickly post
for everyone else.
Since most any tag in OSIS can be milestoned, and
since the SWORD API includes general XML processing,
I'm really not sure exactly what we would get by causing osis2mod to
depend on an XML parser.
