I have just discovered this fantastic project, my thanks to you all for
your work in the Lord. I am a newish Linux user (not developer) and
have abandoned Microsoft completely. On discovering the Sword project I
was overjoyed because the one hole in my Linux system was no bible
software.

I met the guy behind the NET Bible several years ago. I was excited about
the project because the main selling point was that it was going to be a
solid translation that was FREELY distributed. I do not know what changed or
why.

Yup. NET is not PD. It's not available for non-commercial
distribution. As far as licensing goes, it's at least as restrictive as

Yeah, I believe it is copyrighted however if they are willing to provide it
for anyone to download for free in HTML format as well as some other useful
formats, then I believe

I've made a simple Finnish 1992 bible module. I simply split the
multi-verses to single verses and indicated with special tag the
different verse numbering since SWORD cannot handle these yet and I
didn't bother to do anything with poetic lines and headings, although
I've seen headings atleast
Here is attached locale for Finnish; but I have some questions.
The book names are according 1992 version of Finnish Bible and there
are some differences to 1933,1938 version of "Pyhä Raamattu" (yes,
there is some 8bit>7bit conversion error at list: in 7bit HTML it
should read "Pyhä Raamattu"; th
