Is there a risk of compressed audio altering the phase between the channels,
affecting the spatial image?

I could provide an online listening test to compare PCM and
LC-AAC (compressed with the FDK-AAC encoder), with a live A-B switch,
along with the graphs that Aaron made, so that people with
scientifically enhanced golden ears can give some feedback. A blind
test would be even better. With the settin
son of plots of spatial energy.
We found very little spreading with low-complexity AAC, but a fair amount
with HE-AAC.
