to add more on the topic - kamctl (located in source tree at
utils/kamctl/) has the shell script for storing the encrypted/hashed
version of the password, known also as HA1 string, which is
MD5(username:realm:password).

The Auth_db module has the ability to read encypted passwords built into
it. I'd advise reading the manual for the module, and that should show
you how to implement it.
