Easy going, you can allow traffic from a specific source or traffic to a
specific destination before you require authentication on the proxy. You can
also restrict it to both, src and destination and additionaly specific ports.
But squid cannot authenticate those requests on the destination
You shouldn't modify these files. Put it into /etc/default/squid and I assume
it should work out. For Debian this is the right way of doing it, for CentOS I
am unsure but I strongly believe it is the same over there.

browsing to them without https and check if squid gives you an error message.
Did you check the cache.log as well?
