[SAtalk] Guidelines for Mass Mailings

2003-01-07 Thread Steve Evans
I have a few users who want to know how to send mass mailings and not get in trouble for sending spam. Does anyone know of a website with guidelines that talk about opt-in/opt-out, how to know who you can send mass mailings to, what kind of wording to use for the opt-out, etc. Steve Evans SDSU

2002-11-25 Thread Steve Evans
I know this has been asked a million times but I couldn't find it in the archives. Maybe it should be added to the FAQ. I just installed Razor. How can I tell if Spamassassin is using it or not? Steve Evans SDSU Foundation (619) 594

[SAtalk] Suggestion to Reduce False Positive

2002-11-24 Thread Steve Evans
Keep a database with every address that e-mail is sent to. Have a rule with a negative value that checks that database on incoming mail. I find it quite unlikely that any address that someone would send a message to would ever be sending my server spam. Any thoughts? Steve Evans SDSU

[SAtalk] Older Versions

2002-11-01 Thread Steve Evans
Where can I find an older version of SpamAssassin? I'm looking for a 2.3x version. My false negative rate on 2.43 is through the roof. Steve Evans SDSU Foundation (619) 594-0653 --- This sf.net email is sponsored by: See the NEW

[SAtalk] MX Values

roles if one fails though.   I have SpamAssassin installed on Yoda but not SkyWalker.  I'm receiving spam and it is going through SkyWalker.  Has anyone ever heard of spammers purposely avoiding the higher MX value?  It doesn't appear that any non-spam is coming in through SkyWalker.
