Keep the /etc/password, group synced to all the nodes should work. And it
will need to set up an SSH key for MPI.

Have you try this? https://slurm.schedmd.com/nss_slurm.html. it is providing
the user/group/id. I tried in test/dev environment, but not in large production
environment, but should be a handy feature to start with.
