will try again. Any
other clues would be appreciated.
Is the usscanner interface sufficiently deprecated that it should be

I built sane-backends 0.18 under pkgsrc, which passes -j2 to make to run
two jobs at once (and -j4 on 2 cpu machines). It failed, and I include
the whole build log. The problem is running the ar to make a library
before sanei_access.o is built. But, I don't understand why this
failed, as it seem
I've investigated further, and found another directory that fails due to
the build of a .o not being finished before the ar/ranlib rule to make a
.a. If I run BSD make with -j4 I can't get it to fail. But with GNU
make -j4, it fails pretty regularly. This is gmake 3.81 on NetBSD

sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
I did try putting /dev/ss0 in /usr/pkg/etc/sane.d/pint.conf, after
reading sane-pint.
