Ok, i got it working with plustek, but i have sane 1.0.8, do i have to
download the other plustek stuff each time there's a new sane? do i need to
download that module, or even use it, is it just for parallel?
also,is there a way to get the light to turn off on the button after a
while?

I think the device is /dev/usb/scanner0
if i modprobe scanner, xsane works ok, but not otherwise.
alias char-major-180,48 scanner
i have that in modules.conf, but it won't load automatically still.

I asked about whether or not vantas 3000 usb would work in linux.
Apparently it's simply recognized as scanmo
Despite loading usb scanner module in 2.4.16, sane-find-scanner does not
find the scanner. Is this bad news?
