as you're using the 0.40version with SANE-backends 1.0.9, I expect a
version conflict! Use the latest module 0.42.
Simply unpack this one, recompile, reinstall and reload it, then the old =
one
will be removed automatically...

Does anyone have a Plustek parallel port scanner working on Gentoo, or
