Hello,
I found a bug that explains the dark scans obtained. Even though the
scanner
didn't have shading calibration, scans were done with hardware shading
correction enabled. Since no calibration data was sent before scan, we got
black scans.
I have committed a fix for

Thanks, guys! The community will benefit from that, especially the
people who could try to debug the backend on an unsupported device.

St?phane, one thing to add - while trying to debug the 'genesys'
backend (by setting SANE_DEBUG_GENESYS) first I've got was SIGSEGV.
The reason was simple - the test system has /tmp mounted read-only and
fclose() with NULL argument caused that. The patch is attached, should
I commit that myself or

Scans with HP3670 using current GIT (at
3c0b4649bd9a04d3f848d346b656bbbf3d39c7e1) results in black images.
Tried several modes/resolutions with the same results (hp3670_1.png),
although using maximum values for gamma/brightness/contrast gives dark
gray image (hp3670_2.png).
The backend is accessed
well, it's listed as unsupported, so the fact that it scans at all is
pretty good :) Perhaps stef can comment further.
