Dear Allan,
so, if I take your statement there is still one problem. "lshal" tells me that
my scanner is called "C7670A", the printing on it's top matches with the
hp.desc file and says "ScanJet 6350C".
Any location within sane to match the scsi-identifier to the actual
devicename?

Dear listmembers,
dear Abel,
dear Allan,
thanks for the pointers. First of all, a "grep processor" within the
desc-files results in nothing. I personally do not see a way how to extract
this information from the desc-files, but maybe (hopefully!) I overlooked

recently started caused issues with SCSI scanners.
By the help of the hal-developers I found a workar
So, long story short, all you need is a list of all the machines that
say they are 'processor'? It was a short-lived hack, and none of those
are made anymore, AFAIK, so your list will be finite and short.
IIRC- every machine supported by the hp backend calls itself a
processor, and some (all?) of
Are you asking if there is a way to produce a list of all machines
which call themselves a 'scanner' and which call themselves a
'processor'?
