Did you select "remote scanner" on the front panel of the device?
Otherwise I get the timeouts as well on my mf8230

That is, I tested everything via network / BJNP!

Hi ,
Because of the upcoming release, I decided to re-test Rolf’s previous work
on the MF8200C (mine is a MF8230), and it (still) looks like its working
fine.
Details are below.
What else should I do?
BJNP scanning is normally harder than USB (?), so I decided to skip this,
but could be convince

Whithout checking the compatability list (Its available ...) I'm tempted to
say, try Rolf's ppa, see e.g:

I mostly agree, though Rolf asks specifically for the USB trace, because

Michael,
- just an idea until someone with a deeper knowledge comes along -
what about compiling from git sources, and then see if you can find the
breaking commit ?
Be careful about ensuring that it IS the compiled frontend and backend that
is running.
(see the compile/install read-me file)

rk 'button controlled scan' as not supported on this device, the XSane
gui does not show this checkbox?
Or we could just error the scan, if we get this request?
Just a thought ...

One question:
Why do you need a head-unit for the scanner?
You should be able to compile and use SANE and XSane under windows ,
through cygwin (or msys?).
Ok , with the cygwin+sane+XSane solution, all users at the office will need
to install some software in order to scan from the device,
but that

eventually can track the differences in the traces,
and find out what command the sane backend must send.
Any pointers on tools or the like is most welcome.
(Right now I have the hex dump from tcpdump)

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out if I can get Canon iSENSYS MF8230c to work with
sane-pixma back-end.
I've been reading a bit and experimenting a bit.
On the positive side, there is already support for "i-SENSYS MF3010,
MF4320d, MF4330d, MF4550d".
What worries me is that I saw that there was committe
