This is the procedure I used to get my new Epson Perfection 3170 running

I do not recommend the HP7450C for use with SANE. I spent 18 months
getting it working. It worked for a few days, including ADF, but paper
jams required me to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working
again. After a few days, it made some funny noises, and now the motor
seems to fail when

I am running on an up to date Fedora Core 3 system, and have installed
sane-backends 1.0.15-1.4 and xsane 0.92-13 via synaptic. Over the last
18 months, I have periodically tried to get my HP 7450C scanner working
under SANE, but was never completely successful. I am now trying again,
and am gett

I have an hp7450c scanner with the same problem.
Rene,
If you want to test these changes and sneak them into CVS, please send
them to me. I'll try them on my HP Scanjet 7450C, and let you know the
results.

I finally figured out how to get rid of hpusbscsi and usbdevfs on Redhat
Fedora Core 1.
Renaming /hpusbscsi.o to hpusbscsi.obk did not work. It still loaded
rm /lib/modules/2.4.22-1.2174.nptl/kernel/drivers/usb/hpusbscsi.obk
got rid of the module.
I changed usbdevfs to usbfs in 2 places in /etc/
sane-avision say that hpusbscsi is obsolete, but I have been unable to
find a way to stop it from being loaded at boot time.
What configuration files need to be modified to prevent hpusbscsi from
loading? At boot time or later?
I have an HP 7450C scanner connected via USB 2.0, Fedora Core 1, and am
installing sane-backends-0.1.13. man sane-avision says that it is
obsolete to access the HP 7450C via hpusbscsi. sane-find-scanner found
SCSI scanner "hp scanjet 7400c 0.8S" at /dev/scanner, /dev/sg5, and
/dev/sgf. It found

I am going through the same process for the HP 7450C. Try searching the
archives for HP 7450C for some tips that may apply to you.
