I have got Jason Millward's commandline app
(http://homepage.ntlworld.com/millwardjp)
to work in FreeBSD 4.6, although it was not much of feat...

sane-find-scanner doesn't seem to work either.
On the FreeBSD side the scanner is found by the kernel on /dev/uscanner0
Sorry it is a bit of a confused message. I would love to know if anyone
has got it working.
