in the SANE development group that maintains the EPSON backend code.
[As I understand the situation, there was an individual in the past but
that person no longer does the EPSON maintenance activity.]

I have successfully compiled and linked SANE under the LSB and submitted
the SANE modification to the SANE bug tracker.
