The LiDE 90's use a custom chipset that can't be coded against. Your
best bet is to get an LiDE 20/25/30 or a 100/200.
http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-CANON has the list.

Is USB Autosuspend on in the kernel?- I had the same problem. Turning
autosuspend off fixed it on the LiDE 30's. I won't be surprised if these
scanners don't like it.

I will say that it is a hoax, because it's from a "dime-a-dozen" file
download place w/the possiblity of infecting Windows PC's.

Manufactures tend to hide the screws under the plastic/rubber feet.
Pry them up with a spludger or thin standard screwdriver, and see if
it's there.

I picked up a NeatReceipts scanner myself, which looks like it just
needs some calibration there.

I think I was able to google find a PDF of the 847 docs. I'll check
when I get back home.

I've bought a LiDE 100 for testing.

I'm wondering about my NeatReceipts Portable sheetfed scanner, USB
idVendor 07b3, idProduct 0462. Scans from XSane are comming in too
light and off contrast with the stock XSane 0.996. I use the
following site to get it recognized:
http://foss.bourgassociates.com
Anyone have any ideas?

I just got one for putting into my bag of on-the-road tools, and I'm
trying it out...
and on a Gentoo amd64 system, it scans okay... if you like desaturated
and low on the contrast. Not even line-art mode works well.
I set it up via the quick-and-dirty instructions here:
