Hi,
I converted my canon lide30 to a digital back for my cambo wideframe
camera, as in this project.
You can find some pictures I took here.
I've used this scanner setup with vuescan on vista and xsane on
ubuntu. As you can see on the examples it has the capability to
reproduce grate gray scales.
