mostang.com should be back up now. Let me know if there are any problems.

OK, I'm getting serious about installing the replacement machine for
mostang.com. As a result, I'll be taking the old machine off the net
for some time (to ensure that no mail will be lost during the
switch-over). If all goes well, the new machine should be up in a
couple of hours. If something
A quick heads up: I plan on upgrading the SANE server from an Itanium
(hp i2000) to an Itanium 2 (hp zx2000) machine. Depending on how
things go, the switch-over may happen some time tonight. In theory,
this should all be transparent apart from a couple of reboots. The
reboots will cause brief d
The sane-devel list stopped working on April 20th. Apparently there
was so much spam that the mailer software stopped working. Anyhow, I
cleared the clogging and things should be working fine again.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Turns out I made a mistake when moving the sane-devel membership from
the old installation to the new one and as a result of this, everybody
was switched to regular (instant-delivery) subscription. I fixed this
now so that if you were subscribing for the digest before, you should
again be receivin
I'm planning to upgrade the SANE server (mostang.com) from Red Hat to
Debian tonight, August 18th, PDT. Because of this, both the mailing
lists and the web server will be unavailable temporarily. Getting
these services back up is of course first priority. I expect the
downtime to last at most a
Thanks for the report. I'll take a look and see what I can do (may
take me a day or two before I get to it). (One monthly reminder is
normal, but there shouldn't be two of them.)

As some of you noticed, the SANE ftp server was down the last couple
of days. It should be back up now, with a new IP address:
ftp.mostang.com 66.187.233.232
Recursive directory listing (ls -R) should also work again, so the
mirrors will hopefully pick up the new stuff soon again. Thank
You undoubtedly must have noticed that mostang.com went off the net on
Monday evening. My DSL provider was supposed to upgrade the line to a
higher speed, but instead misconfigured the DSL modem so no traffic
came through at all! The last two days were quite an ordeal, trying
to get a hold of som
OK, Dec 26th is already here which means that it's time for the SANE
web/mailing-list server to be switched over to DSL. Physically, the
server has already been switched over to DSL and as far as I can tell,
everything works great. However, it will take a day or two to get the
DNS info propagated
You may have noticed that mostang.com is starting to be accessible
again. This is a temporary solution as AT&T apparently is unable to
provide static IP addresses. To be on the safe side, I have placed an
order for enhanced DSL service which will come with static IP
addresses and better bandwidth
Well, the unbelievable did happen: @Home simply cut the wire for AT&T
customers! It's hard to believe a judge would let this pass. Imagine
your phone company going bankrupt and as a result your phone service
would just go away; that's how this hole thing feels to me.
But enough rambling: at the
As you may have heard, there is a potential for @Home shutting down
its network as early as tonight (midnight, Nov 30th). Since
mostang.com is connected via @Home, this means that if they shut down
the network, so will the SANE web site and mailing list.
I'm still hoping it won't come to pass, bu
