There seems to be something wrong with the software deskew operation
in SANE. I'm hoping someone can either confirm it is a bug or suggest
alternate arguments to scanimage to fix the problem. I am also happy
to modify C code and try patches.

Nowadays "xhci_hcd" kernel driver/module issu
on a Canon LIDE 110 under stretch + last genesys (built from git) with :
env SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255 scanimage -d genesys --resolution 100 --mode
Color >scan100dpi.pnm
or :
env SANE_DEBUG_DLL=255 scanimage -d genesys >scan100dpi.pnm
This could be a "true" hardware problem but the scanner has work
