with the change made below, and setting the SANE_SG_BUFFER_SIZE to 1 Meg
the scanner jogs 2 times and takes 15.21 (avg of 3 passes) seconds,
the max I can
set it to is 1,347,071 one more byte and it crashes with
sanei_scsi.issue: 0x17a6130

yes- this comes up fairly frequently, as it's the only cheap A3
machine, and the manufacturer promises Linux support which turns out
to be broken, or a possible GPL violation, or both :(
So, let's do this the FOSS way. Get a log of the scanner making a
small, low resolution scan using this tool:
