I am quite new here and bought me a 4470C. Now I am trying to install to
configure and compile the sources from sane-backends-rts8891.tar.gz to
have fun with my scanner. My system is Ubuntu8.10.
But to be honest I don't konw how can I configure and compile the
sources. Could one of me

I recently saw rapidly this item here but can't figure out if it's a hoax or
if there really is now a Canoscan LiDE100 driver available :

There is no error in this log, so try getting a log of a scan instead:
SANE_DEBUG_GENESYS=255 2>lide35.log >lide35.pnm

I'm the maintainer of iscan and epkowa. I'll take a look at this problem, but
can't guarante
I will say that it is a hoax, because it's from a "dime-a-dozen" file
download place w/the possiblity of infecting Windows PC's.
