I see what you mean. My suggestion--for us end-user guys who are not
programmers--would be to add the words Deskjet series, Photosmart
series, and Laserjet series to the HP listings ordered by printer type
(http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html). Then leave all the fields
blank e

If the hplip guys would make a .desc file for their backend, we would
put it in our site, and it would show up in the search engine. The
Epkowa guys do this. Perhaps you could ask hplip...

Now that my HP scanner is working smoothly, I hope to get some

HPLIP (hplipopensource.com) has scanner support for all HP
multi-function scanner/printers such as HP Deskjet, HP Ph
