Patch attached. Builds on stef's patch, but adds 'missing' member to
device, and twiddles it. Also removes the 'once per second' code I
added a few months ago, since this is statically linked it wasn't
doing much.
It works for me, but i would like some more eyes on it...

That is just aggressive spam checking. Solution was to set in muttrc:
set envelope_from=yes

Well, this patch prevents removed scanners from being removed from the
global list, so if you unplug and replug the scanner 100 times, you
run out of device indexes, and frontend will see 99 non-existent
scanners. However, if we add removal code, then there is the
possibility that we might drop a d

Dear Experts,
I bought this new printer-scanner-copier and it works very well as
printer under my Ubuntu 8.04 system. However, even if HPLIP seems to
support this model as scanner, it is not recognized by xsane. Can you
kindly point me a tutorial or any other info on how to get this

Not quite.
Part A:
There are servers in the web who maintain lists of spammers. But anyone
can defame you there. And the maintainers do not care about complaints.

Your mail gets thru just fine now. Unfortunately, the gt68xx backend
is unmaintained, so unless you've got some C skills or can interest or
pay a developer, you might be out of luck.

I received nothing at all. So I had no idea what happened. From my emails
(not to the list, but my everyday emails!) sometimes I lose about 50
percent. This is for the outgoing emails AND it is

I extra made a new mailbox and send these emails via web-based email. The
construction of the mailing-list adres checker I call rather paranoid. It
does not accept my sending email from a support account I have to use

if scanimage -L does not find it, then there is no backend installed
which supports it. Perhaps you need to upgrade hpaio, or make sure
that it is listed in dll.conf (usually in /etc/sane.d)

there is a prog that does just this in the sane experimental tree.
Stef- I'm gonna look at your patch this afternoon, and see if i can
add missing device removal to it as well. If it works, I'll commit it,
cause it looks like the right fix.

Hello,
you can test easily the patch with the following program run with
SANE_DEBUG_SANEI_USB=6 :
#include
#include
#include
/* sane includes for the sanei functions called */
#include "../include/sane/sane.h"
#include "../include/sane/saneopts.h"
#include "../include/sane/sa
