I finally found a solution in the Ubuntu forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=199147). I had to change the group in '/etc/inetd.conf' to 'scanner': sane-port stream tcp nowait saned.scanner /usr/local/sbin/saned saned Now the scanner gets detected on the remote host, both as

I have an Epson Stylus CX3000 all-in-one which works perfectly on the local machine with the CX4000 scanner driver. But on a client host, it does not get detected after correct setup. (Checked that several times.) I followed all the instructions in http://penguin-breeder.org/sane/saned/ and it ge
