Hi Oliver,
I hope that you can read more out of it than I do.

Jochen,
I know I'm being thick butcan you give me the complete sequence of
commands I should run to provide you with the required output?
I've tried the following;
SANE_DEBUG_MUSTEK_PP=128
scanimage -L
But that gave nothing useful...I've tried
Hi,
since I have installed sane 1.06 recently, invoking the 'preview window'
crashes xscanimage ('floating point exception (core dumped)') when logged in
as mere user.
But xscanimage WORKS when not using a preview.
This doesn't occur when logged in as root, and it didn't at all with version
1.0
Alright, this is how my trouble goes. I got my Mustek 600 III EP scanner
working through scanimage. It is only working now though if I use root
to run the program. If I use any other user I get:
bash-2.04$ scanimage -d mustek_pp > bah.pnm
scanimage: open of device mustek_pp failed: Invalid argum
Hei,
I'm not sure is this problem caused by XSane or some SCSI module, but when I
start XSane without my scanner (Epson perfection 1640) turned on or
disconnected, the partition table of my HD messes up, and there is no any
partitions visible anymore. although this can be fixed afterwards with fdi

I assume that your hard disk is a SCSI disk. Do the hard disk and the scanner
use the same SCSI bus id? If so, than that's your problem. Every device needs
it's own ID. If you already have different IDs, then it's possible that your
SCSI bus is not correctly terminated. Do you have a terminator on
