Anyone used this scanner with SANE?
If so what backend and version of SANE?
I have tried the PIE backend with Sane 1.0.4 under SuSE Linux 7.1
Professional (x86 platform) and an Adaptec AHA-2940A SCSI card.

Just installed xsane-0.79. Works fine except:
The gimp link:
ln -s /usr/local/bin/xsane ~/.gimp-1.2/plug-ins
Now gives and executable in the plug-ins directory rather than a sym. link.
With 0.78 there was a link and so I could scan from within the gimp.

Perhaps someone can help me fix this problem. I have an Epson 1240 U Scanner.
After doing all the configuration mentioned in the USB scanner FAQ and
conecting the scanner to the USB port...I was all excited when it worked
straight awayuntil I tried to scan at a resolution higher

I have been trying to get my PCTV card to work with sane.
when I tried to launch "xsane" "xcam" or "xscanimage" the kernel say
segmentation fault.
The I launch "scanimage --help" and saw that there are two devices
"v4l:/dev/video" & "v4l:/dev/video", but I only have a card and the

please read the FAQ for the EPSON backend on my site:
http://www.freecolormanagement.com/sane/faq.html
You have to increase a timeout value in the kernel scanner driver -
or use a newer kernel that automatically increases this timeout for
EPSON scanners.
