Can you create a web interface that we can make changes on? There’s
already a web server for status. That would eliminate the need for desktop
interaction with the service, granted if that option was available you would
need to secure it with a username and password.

What version of SQL? Make sure you have all the updates and service packs for
your SQL server. Try using the IP address of the server instead of the name in
the Servers Alive Configuration. Make sure you have the right
username/password/DB Name
