Thanks for the quick help.
I have experimented with installing several versions of R :
3.6.2-1bionic
3.6.3-1bionic
But None of them are recognized, and the configure still says:
*r-3.6.2.p0: no suitable system package;
will be installed as an SPKG*
On T
7;s r-base-dev package.
