William reported a relatively short-term outage at UW.edu in the math
department server area that appears to be over now.

Justin C. Walker,
Haven't been able to access sagenb.org or .com for over a day. Is
this a long term outage?
Thank you,

I could be wrong, but I think that sagenb.org has a timeout on all
computations, which may be different than any timeout due to idleness. It
may reset everything every 10 minutes or so, to prevent long-running or
otherwise intensive computations from using up all of the resources on the
server.
So
I'd been running some computations on sagenb.org which involved
(implicitly) asking Singular to make some groebner basis
calculations. I was never able to complete it because it would
eventually appear to finish, but at that point it acted as though the
worksheet was restarted (and silently -- at

There was an out-of-disk problem on the server about a month ago, and
this led to corruption of the sagen
Is sagenb.org having problems? I tried to log on yesterday (and

Nevertheless, I've found remarkably few (given my 2-for-2 batting

Is this not a problem for others, just me doing something wrong?
I have had a lot of lag on the sage servers this past semester.

Hi,

Same here. I've just about given up on SageNB due to availability problems. A few times I tried to give a demo to sing praises of Sagenb, couldn't log on. Not good.Alpha seems better, but is there a way to mover over/sync your notebooks from the main server?Thanks,-d

This is a such a big problem that a conference recently was dedicated
to fixing it. Sometime this year there should be a new notebook system
designed for dealing with lots of users. There are alternative
notebook servers such as http://alpha.sagenb.org, but I don't

I've spent the last couple of hours frustrated at trying to log in and use
notebooks at sagenb.org. I was attempting to do this while teaching a class,
and had little to no success between 10:30 and 12:20 EST (U.S.). I had this
same experience about a month ago when teaching a different class
Last night I logged into sagenb.org and created a new worksheet. At
the end I pressed "Save and Quit". However, when I logged in this
morning there was no trace of the worksheet. Can it be recovered?

Earlier today I signed up through sagenb.org so that I can publish my
worksheet. The signing up process was simple, but whenever I try to
login, I receive errors. I've checked my login information and it is
accurate. Is there anyone else having problems?

Hi,
I've created a brand new sagenb.org VMware virtual machine. It's
state is the same as the sagenb.org
virtual when it is was fork bombed.
The main difference is that now:
1. It is running in a VMware virtual machine on my desktop. The
virtual machine
