In Python 2.x, you can only use the following characters for
identifiers (things like function names, variable names, etc.): the
uppercase and lowercase let

If in a string it is accepted but coded like:" après" becomes 'apr
\xc3\xa8s'
I suppose it is a question of font encoding.
