We had a similar problem. It turned out that our $LD_LIBRARY_PATH had
an inappropriate entry. sage starts without error after we removed
the inappropriate entry.

If the above matrix is C, the output from latex(C) is the form that
%slide does not type set correctly.
But %slide and %hide are great features!! They make sage better than
PowerPoint, from my perspective.

Hi
I am using the sage 4.1 notebook.
When I enter the following into a notebook cell, I get the correct
display of the matrix:
%latex
\left(\begin{array}{r}
1 & a & a^{2} & a^{3} & a^{4} \\
0 & 1 & 2 a & 3 a^{2} & 4 a^{3} \\
0 & 0 & 1 & 3 a & 6 a^{2} \\
0 & 0 & 0 & 1 & 4 a \\
0 & 0 & 0 & 0
Sorry !!
Let me try again !!

Hello,
The line
jsmath("cos(2\phi)"+latex(1/x))
in the sage-4.1 notebook produces different result from the sage-3.4
notebook. The result in sage-3.4 is what I want.
Thank you for your help!
