%python does not resolve this problem unfortunately.
I understand that "pre-parser" is a difficult problem.
I tried the following, which works.
r('library(ggplot2)')
r('p <- ggplot(mtcars, aes(x = factor(cyl))) + geom_bar()')

If you started the notebook server using the menus, it should have opened
Terminal.app and prompted you for a password. If this didn't happen, you can
move ~/.sage and try again. If that doesn't fix your problem then it's likely
a bug in that part of the code and I would like to know more spec

I had compilation problems with opensuse 13.1. As far as I remember, sage
does not play well with cpu power tools, you may want to give it another
try by enabling cpu to performance mode. I am unsure this can fix though
because it didn't with opensuse 13.1.

I have not the ggplot package installed in my SAGE cloud projects (as given
by SAGE cloud wiki,needs network access or upload package)...but...
Can you try with %python at first line in cell ?
The idea is to disable the SAGE cloud "pre-parser" (in short about it :
overloading of some
