Rough or not, thank you very much. I'll try it out tomorrow!

Edward,
Never mind that last one. Sorry. In VMware Player, on the Ethernet
drop down menu, is connected and NAT selected?

How does one input derivatives of unknown funktions into sage?
IE x*f'(x)+x^2*f''(x)
How does one input f'(x) and f''(x)?
Does one have to resort to explicit maxima syntax?
IE maxima("x*('diff(f(x), x, 1))+x^2*('diff(f(x), x, 2))")
In sage, an unknown variable (y) is defined var('y'), but

Hi,
I actually did get it working on feisty yesterday, and have been using
it
quite a bit since and haven't noticed any major problems. I also kept
a rough log as I was going along. I'll attach it, but I apologize
that
I won't have any time to edit it for a couple of days. Its pretty
rough now
Hey Edward,

Hey Neal,
I tried setting up a chroot jail (jail for short) this week. I run
Ubuntu gutsy (7.10), and had a similar problem. The only way to get
the file system mounted was to use loop instead of bind (or use
both). Also:

Hello all,
Sage looks like such a great tool.
I am having trouble on XP. Downloaded and installed sage-
vmware-2.10.3.
When I start sage_vmx.vmx I get what appears to be a normal ubuntu
startup.
Typing sage works as expected. 2+2 = 4 :-)
Typing notebook shows the message:

Hello,
If I try to compute the resultant of two polynomials in RR['x','y'],
it fails with a NotImplemented error. Like:
R. = RR[]
p = x + y
q = x*y
p.resultant(q)
It works when I use QQ[] instead. I don't know how resultants are
computed (it seems to be done by libsingular), but if is done usin
