Case 1: the user wants to send the graph to someone else who then
opens it in Jmol to see what they were looking at. This can be done

I don't know that you can do it via Jmol, but perhaps via Tachyon.
sage: sage.plot.plot3d.tachyon?
I imagine that looking more in depth at the Tachyon documentation (not
just the result of the above command) might help you more. I am sorry
that I don't know the answer to this, though.
