This may be what some people have been complaining about. For me (on UW
campus), http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/jason/sagecell/ gives
Error 502 - Bad Request
The server could not resolve your request for uri:
http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/jason/sagecell/

Hi,
As previously announced a few times, the sage.math cluster is OFF, due
to a electrical work that is being done in the building that houses
the server room. I expect the machines to be off until about 9:30am.
Obviously, anything that runs on those machines -- including

Hi,
Most sage.math related infrastructure will be down for the next few
hours for maintenance.

Hi folks,
The sage.math binary for Sage 4.1.2 can be found under my sage.math
development directory [1]. That directory also lists MD5 checksum
files to cater to your paranoia needs ;-)

Hi!
Two minutes ago I tried to build a package, that I planned to submitt
this evening, but it failed since there is absolutely no free byte
left on one partition of sage.math's disk:
$ df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 71117180 67538052
Let me start by thanking William Stein for making this machine
available. I would like to run a parallel polynomial multiplication
benchmark on sage.math, however right now 16 cores are in use so
performance degrades after 8 threads (the program does not handle
heavy multitasking well). Here are

Hello folks,
we nearly ran out of space on /home for the first time in a while. The
following accounts are using more than 1GB space and on case your name
is one the list you should consider cleaning up unused files.

Hi,
sage.math is down and I don't have physical access to the machine right now.
Reminder: a backup from yesterday of everybody's file is available here:
http://modular.math.washington.edu/home/
I hope to reboot sage.math within an hour, but given the summer break
I'm not sure I can.

Hi,
I reboot both sage.math and sagemath.org to fix the recent Linux local
root exploit vulnerability.
Let me know if you have any trouble introduced by this reboot using
either of these machines.

Hi,
The computer sage.math.washington.edu is back online.
It actually didn't crash -- instead the ethernet interface was
somehow disabled on Friday. There were no hard drive
related problems.
NOTE -- the notebooks should be back online within 30 minutes
to an hour.

Is the machine sage.math.washington... down for a scheduled outage or
did I/someone else break it again!?
Bill.

Hi folks,
When I logged into sage.math today I saw the following annoucement:
"""
SCHEDULE Downtime:
Monday, Feb 12, 2007, 11am - 3pm for upgrades (extra 8 cores :-).
"""
This is a head-up to scheduled your computation around the downtime.
8 more cores. Cool!

It appears as of around 10:30 p.m. feb 7 that sage.math and
modular.math are down and unpingable.

Hi,
I just "successfully" interactively crashed sage.math! Check out this

being able to fix them even though I should be able to!]

Hi,
If you have code or anything else that was suspected of crashing
sage.math, please feel free to try it right now. I think I might
have fixed the source of the problem...

Hi,
I turned sage.math back on, but still haven't changed anything,
so it'll probably just crash again soon.
I'm in the process of configuring modular.math as a separate
machine, which will act as the main file servder for sage.math.
Then if (=when) sage.math goes down, all files will still

Hi,
sage.math.washington.edu is down again for unknown reasons, and will
be down until I get back on Monday (Jan 1). At this point the only
reasonable explanation is a hardware failure.

Hello,
sage.math should be fully back online now.
Please be somewhat "gentle" with her until I get back to UW

Hi,
Sage.math is likely down until Tuesday morning. There's nothing
I can do about this. During the first week of January, I will do
at least two things to address this problem:
(1) Setup modular.math (my old dual-processor opteron box)
as a 100% mirror of sage.math, so when sage.m

Hi,
I don't know why, but suddenly ssh access to sage.math is down.
This might be related to my attempts to install MATLAB a few minutes
ago, but I don't know for sure.
The website and wikis on sage.math still work fine, and of course
people can still get their files from:

Hi Everyone,
sage.math was slow today because of a massive problem in the computer room.
We're lucky the machine worked *at all*, and that it still works after
what happened. See below.

disabled. This caused the mac
