Unfortunately I'm unable to help with this. It looks like a Sage/toolchain
issue which I'm afraid someone else will have to sort out. I don't have any
ideas at all.

version is 2.7.0, but there was a system upgrade in between.

I'm one of the MPIR developers. I am unable to find any information on this
issue. And Arch Linux seems to have a working MPIR-2.7.0 package which
doesn't require any specific patching:

My guess is something unusual with your system, or a recent ch
