I didn't install any development versions of gcc. I have gcc version from
standard install of OpenSuse 12.2.

I failed to compile Sage-5.3 on OpenSuse 12.2 (gcc 4.7.1) 64 bit.
Before installation I entered:
./sage -i patch
./sage -i openssl
Part of installation log with errror:
