Can someone who uses R please check it out and report if there are any

There are 2 changes:
1) Allow picking up configuration files. This should not affect those who
don't have these files, obviously,
conda-forge and Debian has 3.0.0.5, but sage is still at 2.2.0
Ticket to upgrade to 3.0.0.5 needs review.
