sage_c_lib and I opened ticket #492 for that. The problem is in the
NTL wrapper - just like givaro it needs a strategically place
"#include "string.h" to compile.

got all components to work with gcc 4.2 once 4.2.1 had been released.

William is off somewhere and according to trac the 2.8.3 milestone is
now one hour overdue. But he did mention yesterday evening in #sage-
devel that because of the big number of new features/patches send to
him for 2.8.3 the release will be delayed up to next Tuesday (which is
the 28th).
