protocol work: i connect to the server on port 873 and this
connection is used for all - right?

work (cmdlines, ssh version, rsync version and os)? you really
got it working that way: tunneling from host a via host b to
host c (samba.org in this case)?

thing to do with the "-e ssh" option - just to
avoid confusion - i am talking about tunneling the 873 rsync
port through ssh)
