it was a permission problem. I've changed the /etc/rsyncd.conf file on the server and now it works just fine. Could error messages be written into a list --- holding only the first 10 different error messages ? This list could be written out at the end again. Many thanks, Helmut. -- Helmut

n the (remote) source directory, the error occurs on file later. So it looks like a limitation (buffer, list, etc) of rsync.
