I'm using Linux 2.4's DNotify signal to keep nodes of a cluster in
sync in "realtime".

This message describes (imho) a behaviour bug in rsync. I'm going
to submit a patch, but before I dive into the code I want to know what the
actual desired behaviour should be. In other words, please comment.

Assuming your hypothesis is correct, I like the adaptive checksum
idea. But how much extra processor overhead is there with a larger
checksum bit size? Is it worth the extra c

operating systems with matching versions (2.5.2 and 2.5.5 matched up, and
then 2.5.2 and 2.5.5 mismatched, over SunOS and AIX).
