Last week I re-installed Kubuntu Hardy because I felt the psu was
marginal and I was getting flakey behavior.
The new install was done in another similiar machine with a psu believed
to be good.
Last night I did the first rsync backup and got error in some /var/log
files. Errors listed below.

Especially I have troubles because of:
pre-xfer exec returned failure (32256) in Win XP SP3
pre-xfer exec returned failure (65280) in Vista

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try your suggestion and do a:
[r...@rcfcluster-rsync ~]# cp -a /data3/bordner/* /data1/bordner/

The errors are almost certainly the fault of the destination filesystem, not of
rsync. (Indeed, it's conceivable that the directory is hitting some
NetApp-specific size
