bwlimit on rsync locally

2008-03-27 Thread Reeve Yang
Does "bwlimit" option really work on rsync locally? We have one type of harddisk and want to slow down rsync I/O on disk because I don't want the disk head gets too hot. While I'm trying to use --bwlimit option, it looks the rsync speed was slowed down, but iostat is not improved at all. In both ca

It is probably very simple, but I can't get it work. Example: /dir/dir1/a.jpg /dir/dir1/a.tif /dir/dir1/a.txt /dir/dir2/b.jpg /dir/dir2/b.tif /dir/dir2/b.txt /dir/dir3/x/c.jpg /dir/dir3/x/c.txt a.s.o.(a few thousands dirs) rsync should only sync the jpg and tif-files, but not the txt-files.

Good morning all, I¹m using rsync v3.0.0 on both ends. The source is Fedora Core 4 and the destination is MacOS 10.5.2. I¹m trying to sync a file system with roughly 5,000,000 files checking in about 1.2TB. I use the command rsync avP e shh [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/filevault . From my MacOS machine

Can the transliteration patch be added to the mainline code?

Hi all, I've just recently started using rsync for backing up systems locally and remotely and it's very cool. However, since one of my backup servers is a Windows 2000 box (using cwRsync), I need to use the transliteration patch (which allows conversion of characters that are illegal in Windows
